Supported Facebook video links

Facebook gives the same video several addresses, and all of them work here:

  • facebook.com/watch?v=<id> — the watch player link from the desktop site.
  • facebook.com/<page>/videos/<id> — the permalink on a Page's Videos tab.
  • fb.watch/<code> — the short link many share menus copy; see the fb.watch downloader.
  • facebook.com/share/v/<code> — the share-sheet link, which redirects to one of the shapes above.

Mobile links on m.facebook.com and web.facebook.com work as well.

Choosing a video quality

Most Facebook videos come in several sizes, such as 360p, 720p, and 1080p. The preview lists each one with its resolution and, where Facebook reports it, the file size.

HD versions are often stored with the picture and sound apart. We put them back together for you, so your HD download keeps the original sound. If that's not possible for a video, we'll say so instead of giving you a silent file.

For a closer look at HD downloads, see the Facebook HD video downloader.

Audio only

Every video with a soundtrack also offers an Audio only (M4A) entry. The track is copied from the original stream rather than re-encoded, so it keeps the source quality. There is no MP3 option; the Facebook audio downloader explains why.

Limitations

Only public videos work. Live videos that are still streaming, deleted videos, and videos blocked in some countries won't load. Subtitles aren't included, and you can paste one link at a time.

Facebook video downloader FAQ

How do I download a Facebook video?

Copy the video link, paste it into the field at the top of this page, and press Download video. When the preview appears, choose a quality and the MP4 saves to your device.

Which Facebook video links are supported?

Watch links such as facebook.com/watch?v=, Page video links in the facebook.com/{page}/videos/{id} shape, fb.watch short links, and the facebook.com/share/v/ links the mobile share sheet produces.

Why is a quality missing from the list?

Facebook doesn't make every size for every video. If 1080p isn't listed, it doesn't exist for that video.

Where does the downloaded video go?

It is saved like any other browser download, usually to your Downloads folder, with a name based on the post title.
