How to save the audio from a Facebook video
- Paste the link. Copy the link of a public video or Reel and paste it into the field above.
- Find the audio entry. Below the video qualities, the preview lists an entry labeled Audio only (M4A).
- Save the M4A. Press it and the soundtrack downloads as an .m4a file named after the post.
Why M4A instead of MP3
M4A is the format Facebook already uses, so we can give you the original sound. Converting to MP3 would lower the quality. If you need MP3, any free converter can do it in seconds.
Where M4A files play
M4A plays in the built-in music or media apps on iPhone, Android, Windows, and macOS, and in VLC and most modern browsers.
When there is no audio entry
The Audio only (M4A) entry appears only when the video has a soundtrack. Silent clips and photo posts have none. Links that cannot be previewed at all, such as private videos, never reach this step.
Audio downloader FAQ
Does audio download work for Reels?
Yes. A public Reel with sound gets the same Audio only (M4A) entry as a regular video.
Is the audio quality reduced?
No. The track is copied from the original stream without re-encoding, so it has the same quality Facebook serves.
Why is there no audio option for my link?
The video has no soundtrack, the link is a photo post, or the post is not public. FBDownload only offers audio that Facebook publishes for a public video or Reel.
