How to download a Facebook video in HD
- Paste the link. Copy the link of a public video or Reel and paste it into the field above.
- Choose the Best option. The preview puts the highest available quality first and marks it Best.
- Save the MP4. Press the download button for that quality. HD files are larger, so they take longer on slow connections.
Why HD needs merging
Facebook stores HD picture and sound separately. We combine them into one MP4 without touching the quality, so your HD file has sound.
SD, HD, and file size
Qualities below 720p are usually called SD, and 720p or higher counts as HD. Many videos also have a 1080p version. Higher resolutions look better on large screens but produce bigger files, so a lower quality can be the better choice for a phone.
When there is no HD option
The list only shows what Facebook publishes. Older uploads, videos recorded at low resolution, and some Reels exist only in SD, and FBDownload cannot add detail that was never there. It does not upscale or re-encode anything.
HD video downloader FAQ
Can I download Facebook videos in 1080p?
Yes, when Facebook publishes a 1080p version for that video. The preview labels each entry with its height, so a 1080p MP4 entry appears only when that quality exists.
Does FBDownload improve video quality?
No. It saves the qualities Facebook already has, without upscaling or re-encoding. The best you can get is the highest quality Facebook publishes.
Do HD downloads keep the sound?
Yes. When picture and sound are stored separately, we combine them into one MP4 so your download has sound.
